Join the library online for free.
Please note this application process is for 'NEW' membership applications only.
If you wish to log into your library account please use West Lothian - Online Catalogue (opens new window) and use either the 'Log In' or 'My Account tab' at the top of the page. To complete your membership and become a full library member which will also allow you to borrow physical stock from the libraries, please visit the library you selected in your application within 28 days, with 2 forms of identification (one must show your address). Please check the library opening times before you visit: Your Library. You will also be asked to agree to the Library Terms and Conditions and whether you are happy to receive communications to promote events and services. You will then receive your membership card and key fob and will have full access to all West Lothian libraries resources. A parent or carer must be present when collecting a junior library card (under 16 years).
Alternatively, you can remain a Digital only member without visiting a library to complete the full membership process. You will be sent your membership number and PIN from your chosen library within approximately 5 working days (excluding public holidays). This will immediately allow you to register to receive our digital resources which are available 24/7 and offers e-Books, e-Talking books and e-Magazines, full instructions can be found on the following webpage: e-Books, e-Audio/Talking books & e-Magazines. Simply register either via the BorrowBox website or download the BorrowBox app to your device then register with your library membership number and PIN and start downloading. You do not need to visit a library with identification to remain a Digital only member, however you will be unable to borrow books or any other physical library stock from any of our libraries. At any time, should you wish to begin borrowing physical stock from our libraries, please visit any West Lothian library with 2 forms of identification as advised above.
You can also register in person in any West Lothian library, all you need to take with you is your identification as detailed above and our friendly library staff will complete your application with you.
West Lothian libraries offer a huge variety of services including: Free WiFi, Free PC access, Bookbug sessions, Storytime sessions, Lego clubs, Craft sessions, Book groups, Free hearing aid batteries, Homebound service and much more. Assistive technology including large character keyboards and Boardmaker is available in every library.
