Better Off is the West Lothian Community Planning Partnership's strategy for tackling poverty, including fuel poverty, in West Lothian.

Better Off West Lothian Tackling Poverty Strategy 2023-2028 takes a refreshed approach to the changing challenges caused by lack of sufficient income, with the council's Anti-Poverty service continuing to work with partners across the council and others including Department of Work and Pensions, Social Security Scotland, local credit unions and West Lothian Food Network to help those most at risk. Home Energy Scotland

Free and impartial advice and support for everyone in Scotland

Home Energy Scotland (opens new window) is an advice service funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Energy Saving Trust.

People in Scotland can get advice about:

  • Creating a warmer, more energy efficient home.
  • Reducing energy bills.
  • Exploring greener energy options like home renewables.
  • Greener travel options like electric bikes and cars.
  • Financial support for all of the above, including grants and 0% loans.

Home Energy Scotland's expert advisors help over 90,000 households each year. Since the service was set up in 2008 it has helped save over £1 billion on domestic energy bills.

Home Energy Scotland also works in partnership with many organisations to reach those who need support most of all. From health and social care trusts to national charities and small community groups; working together makes it easier for people to get the advice they need.

They provide free, practical advice and information on energy-related matters to the citizens of Scotland.

They can provide advice and information if you:

  • Have an energy enquiry relating to your supplier (no matter how complex)
  • Wish to understand your energy supplier's complaints process
  • Are experiencing any problems with your energy bills
