Property Uninhabitable
You may be entitled to a Council Tax exemption if the property is uninhabitable.
How does the property qualify for an exemption?
The unoccupied property can be furnished and must be undergoing or has undergone since the last date of occupation of the property:
- major repair works to make it habitable, or
- structural alteration
and no more than 6 months has elapsed since the major repair work or structural alteration was substantially completed.
How long will the exemption last?
The exemption will last for a maximum period of 12 months since the last date of occupation.
