Exemptions
In certain circumstances you may be entitled to a Council Tax exemption. You will not have to pay Council Tax for the period of the exemption.
There are a range of exemptions available for both occupied properties where all of the residents are disregarded and also for unoccupied properties.
If you are entitled to an exemption and your circumstances change you must tell us within 21 days of the change.
By law West Lothian Council must protect the money we manage. We will share information you give us with other organisations responsible for auditing or managing public funds, to prevent and detect fraud.
We will review awards of exemption and reserve the right to use credit reference agencies to validate any such awards.
