22. Union Canal Museum, Linlithgow
This museum in Linlithgow exhibits records, photographs and artefacts associated with the Union Canal. It is the only canal museum in Scotland and was opened in 1977.
Museum is housed in former canal stable situated on lavas and consolidated volcanic ash called tuff. Although no outcrops exist at this site, there is potential for a small museum exhibit on the geodiversity of the Union Canal. The Union Canal museum is located beside the canal in Linlithgow, near Manse Road. Nearby geodiversity sites are Carsie Hill (35), Kildimmery Fishery Quarry (43) and Linlithgow Loch (47).
