Trading Standards

Trading Standards protect consumers and businesses in West Lothian by advising businesses, inspecting trade premises, testing equipment, sampling goods and investigating complaints. We also work in partnership with Advice Direct Scotland who provide a national consumer advice service.

Consumer Advice

If you need advice or wish to make a complaint about any goods or services you have bought please contact Advice Direct Scotland on 0808 164 6000 or visit www.consumeradvice.scot (opens new window) (opens in a new window).

They will record details of your complaint on their database and will also forward it to the relevant Trading Standards service, so that it can be assessed to see if any further investigation is required. The advice and information they give is free and you can call as many times as you need to.
