All vehicles visiting a West Lothian Community Recycling Centre (CRC) will need to book their visit in advance.
Please note: Residents can use any of the five Recycling Centres. There are Recycling Centres in West Lothian open each day (with the exception of public holidays). You may be able to book an available slot sooner if you choose an alternative location, so please check.
Only household waste from West Lothian residents can be accepted. Waste from businesses, traders or charities is not accepted at any time.
Only the vehicle registration booked will be permitted entry. If your vehicle is hired, please bring a copy of the hire agreement.
Please note: There are limited spaces available for vans each day. Vans are not permitted on a Sunday. If you cannot select a van slot when booking you will need to select another day or recycling centre. Any change made to your vehicle type after receiving confirmation may result in entry being refused.

There is no restriction on how many times a West Lothian resident can visit a Recycling centre in a car to dispose of their household waste. However, please be aware that very frequent users will be monitored for fair use and waste crime. Bookings for vans or cars towing trailers must be made separately and are subject to restrictions; further information can be found here: Bookings for vans and trailers
You will not be given access to the site without a booking. You may be able to safely park your vehicle to the side of the site and see if a slot is available imminently, otherwise you will have to book a slot for another time and return then.
If your vehicle is hired please bring a copy of the hire agreement.
You may also be asked to provide proof of your address in West Lothian (council tax bill or recent utility bill).
If slots are available you will be able to book on the same day you want to visit.
It is likely that all available slots have already been booked for that location, you will have to select another location or date/time to visit.
Check the other locations to see if any slots are available on the date you wish to visit. If there are still no slots available, you will have to choose another day to visit.
The changes were part of a number of measures that the council had to make in order to balance its budget. The council needs to meet a £43.4 million budget gap over the next five years and is legally required to balance its budget. The council receives 80% of its budget from the Scottish Government.
By reducing operating hours, the council is able to afford to keep all five sites open, with at least two sites open each day. West Lothian has more recycling centres per population size than most other councils in Scotland.
West Lothian's Centres are available for residents to dispose of their household waste only; commercial access is not permitted at any time.
You can bring your waste in a car, a van, a hire van, or a car towing a trailer, but in all cases, you need to book your visit in advance.
If you miss your slot or arrive late you may not be granted access to the site. You will have to rebook your slot at another time.
The booking is made against the address you have provided and for the vehicle registration entered. The registration of the vehicle entering the Recycling Centre must match the one for which the booking has been made.
No, the slot admits one vehicle only. If you wish to bring more than one vehicle you will have to book two separate slots, entering the vehicle registration for each.
The centres with the highest usage are open most to meet the increased demand in their area. Oakbank, Whitburn and Blackburn accounted for 85% of all recycling centre visits, so they are open more than the quieter centres of Broxburn and Linlithgow.
Please call our customer service centre on 01506 280000 and select the option to book a CRC slot. Bookings can be made by phone Monday-Friday 10am-4pm.

No, each time slot allows for multiple cars to visit during that time. The number permitted varies per site, as each site is of a different design, and is based on the average number of cars which would normally visit. The 30 minute time slot allows for some flexibility in when you arrive at the recycling centre.
