Brown bin changes due to May holidays
All brown bin collections in West Lothian will be suspended from Monday 1 May until Sunday 14 May due to the two Monday holidays.
The decision has been made to cancel one brown bin collections for every household in West Lothian, to allow resources to focus on clearing any outstanding grey, green and blue collections.
The council empties around 26,000 bins per day, and May day and the Coronation bank holiday falling on consecutive Mondays limits the resources available for catching up on missed collections.
Grey, green and blue bins due for collection on either Monday 1 or 8 May should be put out on Tuesday 2 or 9 May and left out until they are emptied. Residents are asked to be patient while our crews work to empty any outstanding bins over the course of the following week.
Anyone who is unsure of their collection dates can check and register for emails reminder at Household Recycling and Waste.
All five of West Lothian's recycling centres will be open seven days as normal in May. For more details on locations and opening hours, please visit Community Recycling Centres
