Proposal to Review Admission Arrangements arising from School Catchment Area Variations at Deans Community High School, West Calder HS, Inveralmond Community HS and The James Young HS

West Lothian Council Education Executive agreed the proposal on 18 January 2022.

Proposal

West Lothian Council agreed, on 10 September 2019, to undertake formal consultation on the proposal to review admission arrangements arising from school catchment variations at Deans Community High School, West Calder High School, Inveralmond Community High School and The James Young High School.

Statutory Consultation

In terms of the Schools (Consultation)(Scotland) Act 2010 (the Act), any proposed changes to a school estate in this case review of admission arrangements arising from school catchment area variations, requires Statutory Public Consultation.

The Consultation involves the parents/carers/children and staff of Deans Community High School, West Calder High School, Inveralmond Community High School and The James Young High School as well as all other key stakeholders associated with the school and statutory consultees as detailed in Schedule 2 of the Act.

Consultation Period

The Consultation period will run from 15 September 2021 until 5pm on Friday 5 November 2021.

This timescale adhered to the statutory consultation period for such circumstances which is a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks and include at least 30 school days.

Public Consultation Meeting

Public consultation meetings give interested parties opportunity to express their views on the proposal.

Consultation Meeting

Following discussions with Education Scotland the education consultation meeting on the 30 September, 7.00pm till 8.30pm will now be held virtually.

Decision
