Community Sport Hubs
A Community Sport Hub is a collective of local sports clubs & other community organisations that come together to improve the contribution that sport & physical activity has on a community.
A Community Sport Hub (CSH) is focused on the clubs around an area, sport centre, community centre, school, park or a playing field pavilion. In some cases a hub combines a number of these places or it may simply centre on a single venue hosting many clubs. The 'hub' is essentially a collective of progressive sport clubs and partner agencies working together for a local community.
They bring together sport clubs and key local partners who want to develop and grow the sport, physical activity and wellbeing offer in the local community, focusing on sustainable, community-led approaches that get clubs and partners working together to develop welcoming, safe and fun environments.
CSHs are Lottery funded and are one of sportscotland's (opens new window) key programmes contributing to Legacy, supporting local sports clubs to play their part in the Sport For Life (opens new window) strategy. Each hub is unique and develops its own vision and values around a clear and simple plan. The common thread that binds all hubs together is that they work to be sustainable and they are built on these three pillars:
Hubs will vary in their model and structure but all should involve local groups and organisations. A CSH plays a fundamental role in bringing key people together by working in partnership, for the benefit of clubs and the local community, in a sustainable way.
