Environmental Health and Trading Standards

The primary role of Environmental Health and Trading Standards is to protect the health, welfare and consumer rights of the people of West Lothian.
Whilst the vast majority of food and drink we consume is produced safely there are times when things go wrong. Environmental health will investigate concerns regarding food safety whether that be from food and drink which has been purchased or consumed, or the premises selling food.
Some homes and gardens can look a mess. It is the responsibility of owners (and tenants, where rented out) to keep homes and gardens looking presentable.
West Lothian Council's Pest Control team investigate and treat pest control issues within West Lothian.
Trading Standards protect consumers and businesses in West Lothian by advising businesses, inspecting trade premises, testing equipment, sampling goods and investigating complaints. We also work in partnership with Advice Direct Scotland who provide a national consumer advice service.
