Housing Immigration Enquiries

Where a non-EU resident is planning to live with a local UK resident temporarily or permanently, they may be required by the UK embassy in their home country to have the home in West Lothian inspected by Environmental Health

To process your application, we need some information in advance. Download the form (Word doc, 58 KB)(opens new window) or contact  Environmental Health & Trading Standards to have it sent out to you by post.

Payment

There is a fee for this service, which must be paid before we will carry out an inspection. (Please note the fee is for each immigrant, not per application). Details of our current fees and charges can be found at About Environmental Health and Trading Standards

Once an officer has received your application, you will receive an invoice number and you can then either;

·       Pay online, quoting the 11-digit invoice number via the Pay for it page on the council website, under the Service Accounts tab.

·       Pay over the phone, via the main council switchboard 01506 280 000 (quoting the invoice number received).

When the officer dealing with your request has confirmed that payment has been made, a visit to your property can then be arranged.  The housing immigration letter can then be issued once the visit has taken place

Please note that due to other higher priority work, enquiries relating only to the suitability of homes for immigration purposes at busy periods may receive a delayed response.
