Call for sites
At a meeting in January 2011, and in advance of publication of the Main Issues Report (MIR), the council agreed to initiate a 'Call for Sites/Expressions of Interest' exercise. It presented land owners, prospective developers and others with their first opportunity to identify potential sites for development and made an important contribution to informing the Main Issues Report.
The exercise also provided the council with an initial pool of prospective development sites which were assessed in the context of the strategic requirement for new housing land and other land uses, and also against environmental and infrastructure constraints and other competing sites.
The results of the exercise were reported to a meeting of the Council Executive on 28 June 2011 where it was confirmed that 225 submissions had been received.
