Ways You Can Pay Council Tax
Information on how you can make payments to your Council Tax account.
Direct Debit
Paying by direct debit is a simple, safe and convenient way to pay your Council Tax. Your payments are covered by the direct debit guarantee, so you're still in control and your money is safe.
If you want to pay by direct debit or change your bank details if you already pay by direct debit please complete our online Direct Debit form (opens new window) or call the Revenues Unit on 01506 282020 (option 2).
Choosing to pay by direct debit gives you greater flexibility. You can choose to pay weekly every Friday or monthly over either 10 months (every month from April to January inclusive) or 12 months (April to March inclusive).
If you choose to pay monthly you also have a choice of payment dates within the month. You can choose to pay on either the:
- 1st of the month,
- 8th of the month,
- 16th of the month,
- 24th of the month, or
- the last day of the month.

Bank Transfer
Please quote sort code 800880, bank account number 00918781 and your Council Tax account number.
Pay Online
You can pay your Council Tax online by using the council's online payment facility. You need to have your Council Tax account number and your debit or credit card to make a payment.
Important Note:
West Lothian Council take fraud prevention and security very seriously. All payment transactions take place within a secure online environment and the council will NEVER ask you to submit credit or debit card details via email.
By Telephone
You can call our 24 hour automated payment line on 01506 282407 to pay your Council Tax. You need to have your Council Tax account number and your debit or credit card to make a payment.
Post Office and PayPoint Outlets
You can make a payment at any Post Office or outlet where you see the PayPoint sign (opens new window).
Please ensure that you have your Council Tax payment card with you, or your Council Tax bill if it has a barcode.
