Friends of Polkemmet Country Park
Have you ever wanted to be more involved at Polkemmet Country Park? We have a list of tasks planned for our 'Friends' group, who are passionate about their environment and local green spaces and want to get involved in conservation volunteering and improving your Park.
The Friends of Polkemmet
The Friends group help the Ranger Service to manage Polkemmet Country Park, by carrying out practical outdoor tasks such as cutting back
vegetation, tree management, path work and litter picking.
The group usually meet with the Ranger Service at the Park on the second Saturday of each month, from 11am-12pm.
Current opportunities
No experience is necessary to join in, just enthusiasm for nature and the outdoors, and an interest in helping the Ranger Service and the Friends group.
You do not have to be part of the Friends group to come along to the sessions, but if you are interested in joining, the Friends are a formally constituted group and welcome new volunteers who could help them on their committee.
For more information on sessions and the group, please visit the Friends of Polkemmet Facebook page - Friends of Polkemmet (opens new window)
West Lothian Volunteer Ranger Service
The Volunteer Ranger Service offers additional volunteering opportunities across West Lothian, with sessions running on one Thursday and one alternating Saturday/Sunday per month, from 10am-12pm. Sessions take place at locations across West Lothian, including within Beecraigs, Polkemmet and Almondell & Calderwood Country Parks, and wider greenspaces. Planned practical outdoor tasks include vegetation control, meadow management, tree management and pond work.
No experience is necessary to get involved, and you do not need to attend every session.
