The Council has a responsibility to make sure any spillages onto a road or footpath is dealt with in the appropriate way.

The Council will evaluate and respond to spillages of fuel, oil, blood or body fluids or other matter onto public roads or footways.

If you find a spillage onto a public road, or debris or spillages following a traffic accident, please first call our Customer Service Centre on 01506 280000 as soon as possible providing as much detail as to the whereabouts of the spillage.


Service Standards

  • Provide an effective response to emergencies within 4 hours.
  • Evaluate enquiries/requests relating to the service within 5 days and respond to the customer within 10 working days.
  • Acknowledge receipt of a complaint with a letter to the customer within 5 days and respond to the customer within 10 working days or longer if agreed between the service representative and the customer before the completion of the 10 day timescale.
