Coronavirus (Covid-19) and Responses to Information Requests

The council are continuing to accept requests for information (FOI, EIR and Data Protection related requests).  However, due to the impact of Coronavirus (COVID 19) and, depending on the nature of your request, our response may be delayed.  Any changes to current practices are noted in each of the sections below.

Anyone - from anywhere in the world - has a right to see almost any kind of recorded information held by West Lothian Council, however old the information is. You do not have to say why you want the information or what you want it for and we are obliged to respond to all information requests we receive within 20 working days of receipt.

The Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 give individuals the right to access environmental information held by public authorities.
Public sector information is a valuable resource that can be useful to the private sector and to citizens. The purpose of the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations is to establish a framework for the effective re-use of public sector information.

In order to deliver services to the citizens and communities in West Lothian, it is necessary for the council to collect, gather and process personal data about residents, staff and other individuals.
The council will regularly undertake drone filming within the West Lothian boundary area.
