Abercorn road safety works brough forward

Planned work to create a new traffic signal junction at the junction of the A904 and B8020 Winchburgh Road are set to start earlier than planned.

Work to improve the junction will now start from Monday 16 March 2026, after being brought forward a few weeks to avoid disrupting events already programmed on the Hopetoun Estate.

To reduce congestion and the impact on these planned events, the works will now be split into two phases.

Phase one will start on Monday 16 March 2026 for up to three weeks, and will involve the installation of the essential infrastructure, such as underground ducting and traffic signal/cable chamber.

Phase two will start on Monday 15 June for up to two weeks, and will include the completion of traffic signal works, including road markings, signage, and traffic signal poles, before the lights are operational.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place during both phases to allow the work to be safely completed. These will be manually controlled during the morning and afternoon peaks, however delays and longer journey times should be expected.

The works are required as part of a planning condition for the Core Development Area in Winchburgh, which meant the new signal junction had to be delivered once a trigger point was reached.
