Whitburn and District Community Development Trust - Community Garden Workshop - £19,000
Whitburn and District Community Development trust is a local charity run by volunteers that aims to relieve poverty, promote well-being and build a healthy, prosperous and sustainable future for Whitburn and its community. The charity aims to achieve this through the provision of the Community Support Hub that provides services and support to tackle and alleviate poverty in the community.
The Community Garden which is located at the Community Support Hub has been operational for two years and is run by a group of volunteers providing fresh fruit and vegetables for the community fridge that is run by the development trust. This type of community-based activity is having a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the participants in the project.
Whitburn and District Community Development Trust are seeking £19,000 to expand the Community Gardens Project by installing a shipping container to be used as a community workshop within the garden; purchasing equipment for the garden project; and purchasing and installing solar panels to the container including the batteries to provide sustainable electricity to the new workshop.
