Artlink Edinburgh and the Lothians- Boghall Community Growing and Cooking - £22,400
Artlink works in Boghall to provide opportunities for the development of people who experience enduring mental ill health through a range of creative activities that build their skills, confidence and leadership qualities. To support this, Artlink works collaboratively with local groups and organisations that give focus to their participants' talents by being directly involved in making positive changes in their communities.
The Boghall Community Growing & Cooking project emerged from the successful collaboration between Artlink and a number of local community groups on 'VIVA Boghall!', a warm spaces project that culminated in a community celebration in May 2023. One main suggestion and request from participants was the creation of a space for community growing which has been identified at the rear of Boghall Parish Hall. Boghall Community Growing & Cooking (Boghall Parish Church, Boghall and St Columba's Primary Schools Parents Council, Boghall Drop-in and Artlink) would be the organising group to ensure maintenance and appropriate use of the growing space and the programming of associated activities.
Boghall Community Growing and Cooking Project are seeking £22,400 to develop an area of approximately 600sq meters of the Boghall Parish Church grounds as a community growing space. The works would include: ground preparation, fencing, water access to the site, the installation of raised beds and paths for disability access, the installation of a poly tunnel and storage shed and a selection of materials and tools which are essential for planting.
