Mental Health and Wellbeing Event - Change in Blackburn
Change In Blackburn are a Youth Forum who are part of Community Action Blackburn who come together to discuss issues that affect young people in the community and think of ways to make Blackburn a happier, safer and all round better place to work, settle down and start a family. The group recognise that mental health is a community wide issue and to help combat it the group want to organise a two day event focusing on Mental Health and Well Being in Blackburn. There will be four sessions targeting pupils from all local primary and secondary schools as well as their parents and carers and the general community
The event will also be used to promote local organisations that can provide advice, information and support to the residents of Blackburn. The sessions will include key note speakers from mental health organisations, and workshops to help participants understand issues around mental health and what services are available.
The project will benefit the community in a number of ways;
- The project will benefit the whole community including children, young people, their parents/carers and their families, that need advice, information and support with mental health issues
- The project will show local residents that there are local organisations that can help them with these issues
- The project will be a resource too for the organisations that support them. They will be able to show people how they can help them with issues around their mental health
The sessions will take place in the Blackburn Partnership Centre and will be tailored to various age groups but will target the whole community in Blackburn.
