West Lothian confirmed festive events
There's an exciting programme of festive events and community celebrations are taking place across West Lothian in the build up to Christmas 2024.
Here's a list of all the confirmed events we are aware of so far. Please note that there may be other community events taking place that have yet to be confirmed or we are not aware of at this time.
Tuesday 26 November
Polbeth Santa Parade
Those taking part should meet at Polbeth Hub at 6pm with the parade route turning left onto A71, turning right onto Chapelton Drive, continue round to Chapelton Drive to A71, turning left onto A71, continue west along A71, turning right onto Polbeth Road and finish in St Mary's car park.
Friday 29 November
Armadale Candlelight Procession
The procession meets Armadale Parish Church at 6.15pm then parades via Academy Street, West Main Street, main Cross, turn left to North Street and finish at Armadale Partnership Centre.
Uphall Station Annual Lighting of Christmas Tree
Procession meets at 6.30pm at Marrfield Terrace, Uphall Station the parades to Marrfield Road and Clydevale Place before the tree is switched-on.
Saturday 30 November
Linlithgow Advent Fayre & Torchlight Procession
Linlithgow Advent Fayre takes place between 10am-3pm at Linlithgow Burgh Halls, with a great selection of crafts, gifts, decorations and food treats from local makers/stall holders. Entry free.
Other events include: the St Peter's Church Open Doors day from 3pm and the Santa Dash charity 3k fun run from 4.05pm.
The Torchlight Procession takes place from 5pm from the Low Port Centre, before carols with Linlithgow Reed Band and Tree Light switch-on around 6pm.
Greenrigg Christmas Tree Switch-on
An event is taking place in Greenrigg Church from 3pm with the tree light switch-on at 5pm.
Sunday 1 December
East Calder Torchlight Procession
The procession should assemble at East Calder Sports Centre car park for 6pm, then proceed through Seven Wells Estate, down Langton Road, onto Main Street, along to Dave King Partnership Centre.
The Christmas Tree lights switch-on will then take place, before the choosing of the 2025 Gala Queen and her Court at the Dave King Partnership Centre.
West Calder Santa Parade
Procession meets at Parkhead Primary for 4.30pm, with parade along Harburn Road, turning right on to 87008 Harburn Road, then turning left onto A71 East End, continue along A71 Main Street turning left on to Dickson Street then turning right in to West Calder Community Centre.
Friday 6 December
Fauldhouse Santa Parade
Procession meets at Fauldhouse Partnership Centre for 6pm, before the parade takes place along Fauldhouse Partnership Centre on Lanrigg Road, left on to B7010 Lanrigg Road, right on to Eastfield Rd, right on to B7015 and continue along Sheephousehill, before turning right on to B7010 Main Street, then left to return to Fauldhouse Partnership Centre.
Livingston Village Christmas Tree Lighting
Meet at Livingston Village square from 6pm for a torchlight procession from the school, carols and a very special visitor. For more details, visit Livingston Village Christmas Tree Lighting - Facebook (opens new window)
Saturday 7 December
Mid Calder Torchlight Procession
A carol Service takes place in the Kirk of Calder from 6om, before the procession leaves from outside at 6.30pm. The parade route travels towards the village, turning left into Market Street and ending at Avenue Park Junction, where the Christmas Tree lights will be switched on at around 7.15pm.
The procession will either gather at the tree for Santa's Sleigh, or disperse to The Institute Hall where refreshments will be offered and Santa's Grotto set up.
Whitburn Santa Parade / Christmas Tree Lights On
The procession meets at Whitburn Community Centre access road for 4.30pm, with the parade turning right and walking north past the telephone exchange to the left of the roadway. It then continues along Manse Road to Whitburn Cross, for the Christmas tree switch-on outside Whitburn Partnership Centre at around 5pm.
Bathgate Carol Service and Christmas Tree Lights Switch-On
Bathgate's annual Christmas extravaganza event takes place in George Street and The Steelyard, in Bathgate town centre from 12 noon, with live entertainment from Radio Grapevine, and festive market stalls.
The traditional Carol Service will start at 4pm, accompanied by Kirkton Brass, Bathgate Band, and Menzies Choir; followed by the Christmas Tree Lights countdown and switch on finale.
Other events
Livingston Round Table Santa Sleigh
The volunteers at Livingston Round Table are planning on carrying on their tradition of bringing their Santa Sleigh around Livingston. More details when available will be published on their Facebook page at Livingston Round Table Facebook page (opens new window)
Livingston Round Table are also looking for more people to get involved to help run the Santa Sleight, so if you can assist please contact them via their Facebook page.
Christmas Lights Switch-On and other events
We are aware there may be other communities that are planning festive events but which we may not as yet have confirmation. Keep an eye out for further details on the council's website and social media channels.
