Proposal to Mothball Dechmont Infant School and Dechmont Infant School Nursery Class for the duration of school year 2024/25

Proposal
West Lothian Council's Education Executive at its meeting on 12 March 2024 authorised West Lothian Council's Education Services to commence non-statutory consultation on the proposals to mothball Dechmont Infant School and Dechmont Infant School Nursery Class for the duration of school year 2024/25.
Non-Statutory Consultation
In terms of the Schools (Consultation)(Scotland) Act 2010 (the Act), the proposal does not require a Statutory Public Consultation.
The Council has decided, however, to undertake a consultation based on the requirements of the Act.

Consultation Period
The consultation period was from Monday 18 March 2024 until Friday 17 May 2024. This timescale adheres to the statutory consultation period for such circumstances which is a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks and include at least 30 school days. A public meeting to discuss the consultation document was held at:

Decision
