Proposed lease extension for former Livingston Village Hall building
A report to West Lothian Council Executive will recommend the approval of a proposed six-year extension to the lease agreement for the former school property (also known as the Former Livingston Village Hall), 2 Kirk Lane to First Class Nursery Ltd.
The former school property (also known as the Former Livingston Village Hall), has been let by the council for use as a children's nursery for a number of years with First Class Nursery being the current tenant.
The committee report notes that the owner of the nursery business has been seeking to sell their business and has sought consent to extend the lease for a further period of six years to aid in the transfer of the tenant's business interest. This is not unusual where tenants will seek to maximise the tenure available to an income business purchaser and is understandable on that basis as it allows them to trade the goodwill and trading history they have built up through their business.
The report concludes that the proposed terms set out in this report are considered by officers to represent the best terms reasonably obtainable by the council to support the proposed extension of lease for the premises 2 Kirk Lane, Livingston Village.
Council Executive will discuss the proposal at its next meeting on Tuesday 3 March.
