Kitchen and dining boost at West Lothian schools.
Four West Lothian schools are set to share a £6 million investment programme to upgrade their kitchen and dining facilities.
Stoneyburn, Bellsquarry, Windyknowe in Bathgate and St John Ogilvie in Livingston primaries are all set to have their catering facilities improved.
This is part of the bid to tackle poverty by providing free school meals to all children in Scotland in P1-P5 and those in receipt of the Scottish Child Payment in P6 and P7.
The Scottish Government has provided grants to cover the £6 million cost of providing high-quality dining and kitchen facilities in all four West Lothian schools, to allow them to cope with the expected increase in demand.
The project for Stoneyburn is currently out to tender, with works expected to be completed by late Spring 2025. Design work for Bellsquarry is progressing well, with planning expected to be submitted shortly, while Windyknowe and St John Ogilvie are still in the initial design stages.
