West Lothian Council's Education Executive at its meeting on 3 September 2024 authorised West Lothian Council's Education Services to commence statutory consultation on the proposal to close St Joseph's Nursery Class, Whitburn.

Consultation Period
The consultation period was from Monday 9 September 2024 until Friday 1 November 2024. This timescale adheres to the statutory consultation period for such circumstances which is a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks and include at least 30 school days. A public meeting to discuss the consultation document was held at:
- Joseph's Primary School, Whitburn | Monday 30 September 2024 | Time: 7.30-8.30pm

Decision

Representations to Scottish Ministers
When an authority takes a decision to approve a school closure proposal, section 15(2) and (2A) requires it to notify Scottish Ministers, within 6 days of making the decision, and place a notice on its website of this fact and of the opportunity to make representations to the Scottish Ministers.

The deadline for making representations is Monday 24 March 2025.
