West Lothian musicians shine at Spring Concert showcase
The talent of West Lothian young people was on show at the West Lothian Spring Concert Showcase recently.
The special concert featuring musical ensembles of students from across West Lothian took place at Inveralmond Community High School in Livingston.
A packed audience of more than 300 were treated to superb performances from six West Lothian Schools area ensembles: Big Band; Brass Band; Concert Band; Wind Ensemble; Pipe Band; and String Ensemble.
A total of 150 young musicians from 30 schools across West Lothian all took part, delivering a superb evening of music that received a very positive reception from the crowd.
Executive councillor for education Andrew McGuire said: "Thanks to everyone who helped deliver another fantastic Spring Concert Showcase.
"Last year's excellent concert was our first since Covid, and it's great that even more performers from more West Lothian schools taking part this year.
"We have so many talented young people in West Lothian, and it's great to see them able to showing their skills on a platform like this. It takes an incredible amount of hard work from each of them to get themselves to such as high standard.
"Special thanks must also go to all the staff, who helped put on such a great event, as well as all the parents/carers, family and friends who supported the young people and attended on the night to cheer them on."
Parents of current members of the ensembles should look out for an email next term asking them to complete an existing members registration form for next session
Any pupil of the council's Instrumental Music Service who is not currently in an area ensemble and is interested in joining one next session should talk to their instructor, with rehearsals beginning again in September.
