Simplify your business vision
Budding entrepreneurs were recently given an insight into how to keep things simple when it comes to turning their business dreams into reality.
The 'Simplifying the Business Start Up Process' event was organised and hosted by Business Gateway West Lothian with the aim of helping prospective business owners turn their business idea in to a successful new venture.
The event held at West Lothian College on Thursday, the 29th of February, covered everything from strategic business planning and building a strong brand, to sustainable practices and financial support.
Attendees also got to gain further insight into the challenges of starting up your own business via a panel discussion and Q&A session with local business owners, Sarah-Jane Watson (founder of Watson Estate Agency in Armadale) and Claudia Willunat (founder of e-commerce business, Claudia's K9 Coats for pets), who both launched their businesses in October last year.
They were joined at the event by fellow local business owner, Lewis Gold who is the founder of the Geeza Pizza pop up street food truck based at Houston Industrial Estate.
Prospective business owner, Veronika Levickyte was left feeling inspired after attending the event. She said: "Having attended an event like this for the first time as a new business start-up, I must admit that I was thoroughly impressed by the warm welcome and the feeling of inclusivity that was extended to me, regardless of the stage of my business. I genuinely felt a part of the community, surrounded by individuals with similar visions and ambitions.
"The event was brilliantly designed and perfectly delivered, reflecting the tremendous effort and dedication that must have been put into its planning and execution. It was a pleasure to interact with the people working tirelessly to make our journey as new business owners easier and more fulfilling.
"One of the event's highlights was undoubtedly the guest's speech, which was both enlightening and inspiring. Listening to their insights and experiences was an absolute joy, and it will significantly contribute to my professional journey by inspiring me to move forward."
The event was formally opened by Executive Councillor for Economy, Community Empowerment & Wealth Building, Kirsteen Sullivan.
Councillor Sullivan said, "I was very pleased to attend this event and get the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from local business owners. Local businesses add more than £14.5 million to West Lothian's economy, so the value in supporting individuals to achieve their business dreams is definitely of importance to us all.
