Both the school and its nursery class were visited by a team of inspectors from Education Scotland recently to evaluate the work of the school.

Seafield Primary was rated as good as in every category assessed, while the Nursery Class was rated as good for ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion, and satisfactory in every other category.

Inspectors singled out a number of key strengths including: the strong relationships across the school community and effective partnerships; the commitment of the staff team to improving children's learning experiences; and good progress being made by children in their literacy and numeracy.

They also recommended three areas for improvement, which were: continuing to develop consistent, high-quality approaches to learning, teaching and assessment; ensure all children in the school and nursery class have regular opportunities for learning across the curriculum; and improve children's progress, enhance the play spaces and resources for children in the nursery class.

Seafield Headteacher Lynne Egan said: "We are delighted that Education Scotland inspectors have recognised much of the good work taking place at Seafield Primary School and Nursery Class.

"We have worked hard to develop a strong bond with our local community, so it's fantastic to see them recognise this in their report.

"We also value their input into areas for improvement, and we are already looking to develop in these areas.

"Thanks to all the staff in the school who have worked hard to achieve this good report, and our wider school community for their support."
