New exhibition showcases West Lothian wood
West Lothian's foremost ancient woodland is the focus of a striking new mixed media art exhibition.
'Calder Wood: Contemporary perspectives on an ancient woodland' brings together work from five very different artists with a shared passion for the natural world.
Taking place in The Gallery at Linlithgow Burgh Halls until Sunday 21 January, the free exhibition showcases brand new art work from Anne Gilchrist, Kirsty Venters Marks, Tansy Lee Moir, Jennie Tuffs and Cordula Marks Venters.
The artists involved have spent the last four seasons discovering some of the stories and secrets of West Lothian's foremost ancient woodland, the Calder Wood, which can be explored as part of Almondell and Calderwood Country Park.
All the works are inspired by the woods from the artist's own individual perspectives, exploring it from their differing cultural and historic viewpoints.
The exhibition has been curated by artist Tansy Lee Moir and West Lothian Council's Arts Officer Camille Archer, with support from the council's Parks and Woodlands team.
The Gallery at Linlithgow Burgh Halls is open Monday to Sunday 9am-5pm, except when special events are on. Anyone unable to travel to the exhibition can also enjoy a virtual tour of exhibition online at Exhibitions.
