Inveralmond pupils take part in sustainability event
Inveralmond Community High School (ICHS) recently held the second edition of its 'MiniCop' event engaging pupils on all matter's environment and sustainability.
This built on the schools second successful spring event and centred on environmental sustainability, this gathering spotlighted issues such as nature, wildlife, and notably, litter within the school and wider community.
Students from ICHS and cluster primary schools took part in activities such as litter picking, crafting bird nesting boxes, tree identification in our local forests, and learning about forest fire risks. Pupils also delved into the significance of recycling and proper waste management.
Participants were supported on the day by representatives from a wide variety of organisations including West Lothian Council, the Woodland Trust, West Lothian Litter Pickers, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service joined education supporting pupils
Inveralmond Community High School, Acting Head Teacher Hamish Shankland said: "This was a great event which allowed our pupils and those from our associate Primary Schools to learn about the responsibility we all have in taking care of our environment.
"I'd like to thank all the organisations who took part in this exercise. Our next goal is to integrate these insights into work at school, promoting greater sustainability and care for our local forests and communities."
