Talented West Lothian school pupils have been showing their literary skills to create their very own book and magazine.

Gerry Burns has been named as the first ever Headteacher for the new Sinclair Academy in Winchburgh.

It is expected that five key casualty reduction schemes will be introduced this year on West Lothian's road network - in addition to work at the Avon Gorge.

Overall, the council's 10 year capital plan will see nearly £320 million spent on local assets. Capital budgets are one off investment that are used to improve assets. This includes refurbishing buildings, play areas, parks and roads. It also includes one off investment such as new schools or extensions.

West Lothian Council's Advice Shop has been given the sought-after Investing in Volunteers Award for their work to support those who give up their own time to help others.

A number of local play areas have been upgraded with the aim of increasing the amount of facilities, play equipment and access routes that can be used by children with disabilities.
