West Lothian day support service raises over £2,000 for good cause
A recent special fundraising day at Eliburn Support Services in Livingston is set to boost the Cash for Kids charity.
The individuals who use the service were supported by staff to take part in a sponsored wheelchair walk, along with an afternoon tea where delicious home baking was available for a donation to the proceedings.
All this while dressed as their favourite popstars, which was Cash for Kids theme this year.
They were joined by family, friends and colleagues from nearby Pathways Support Services and the Community Inclusion Team as well as health colleagues for the fun event.
Eliburn Support Services is part of West Lothian Council's Social Policy service and provides day support services for adults who have a learning disability, associated physical disabilities and complex levels of needs.
All the money raised will be given to Cash for Kids for their invaluable work to support children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, life-limiting illness and those who have additional needs.
Carol Brown, Manager of Eliburn Support Services, said: "We had a fantastic time raising money for Cash for Kids.
"The sponsored wheelchair walk turned into race as everyone was so keen to take part, and we enjoyed some wonderful treats at the afternoon tea. It all helped boost our total and kept the donations coming in.
"The people who attend Eliburn are all adults with a range of disabilities, and they were keen to contribute to the community. They chose to support Cash for Kids because of great work they do to support children who need it. I am really proud of what we were able to achieve."
"Thanks to everyone who came along to share the day with us, it was lovely to get your support."
Executive councillor for social work and Health Anne McMillan added: "Thanks to all the staff and service users at Eliburn Support Services, for literally going that extra mile in some cases to support a worthy cause like Cash for Kids.
"We know that those who use the day services at Eliburn can offer a lot to the local community, and this a fantastic contribution they've made to a such a worthy cause."
