Make a change to the life of a young person by becoming a foster carer
Making the decision to become a foster carer can be one of the most rewarding experiences you'll ever experience in your life and more importantly it can change the life of a young person in the most positive way imaginable.
By providing a young person with a safe and caring place to call home you are giving them an environment from which they can grow and develop to reach their full potential.
Foster carers in West Lothian are provided with full support and training from the West Lothian Council Family Placement Team from the moment you make the decision to seek information about becoming a foster carer, right the way through to supporting a young person in your home.
Current and past carers in West Lothian have recently stated the positive impact fostering has made to their lives:
"I love to see my wee twinkles smiling & happy as they start to make themselves at home. They get to experience new things in life. Nothing is more rewarding than fostering & I feel very lucky to have this job" - Lisa
"The most important thing for me is to make them feel safe and to feel loved" - Michele
"It is so wonderful to see how they are getting more confident, and how their little faces light up when they come home and proudly show their reward certificate from school" - Maureen
People interested in fostering are invited to attend a Foster Carer Preparation Course in May at the Strathbrock Partnership centre in Broxburn.
Participants will be invited to attend two Saturdays and two evenings during the week. Dates to be confirmed.
If you believe that you can make a difference and provide a caring home environment then the Family Placement Team would love to hear from you.
