Bin collections return to normal service
Householders in West Lothian should continue to put out their bins as per their usual collection calendar.
Following disruptions to some collections due to the festive holidays and increased covid absences over the last month, returning staff should allow us to re-instate the full collection service going forward.
The vast majority of bins were collected despite the challenges on delivering the service. A number of collections were delayed and West Lothian residents are thanked for their patience and understanding at this time.
Like many other employers, including National Health Service (NHS), Scotrail and Lothian Buses, the council has experienced staffing issues due to covid that have impacted on service delivery.
We are aware that a small number of bins have been missed. We regret that we do not have the resources to go back for these bins and deliver the normal collection service, while staffing levels are still below normal levels.
Therefore, we have made returning bin collections to normal for the whole of West Lothian the main priority, to ensure everyone gets their scheduled collections going forward.
Householders affected are advised to take any missed bins that were due for collection before Monday 10 January back in and present them on their next scheduled collection day. You can check your collection dates and sign up for email reminders at Bin Collection Calendar Dates
Any missed bin collections from Monday 10 January should be reported as usual via Reporting Bin and Waste Issues. We would ask customers who have not had their scheduled bin collected this week to complete the online form, and the service will respond as soon as possible and re-attend as per the service standards.
