(PG) Planning Guidance : Non-employment Uses Within Employment Areas
NB: This consultation is closed.
Planning Guidance (PG) is produced by the council in order to explain how particular development plan policies should be applied in practice.
It was agreed at a meeting of the Development and Transport Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel on 11 February 2020 to consult on new Planning Guidance entitled 'Non-employment Uses Within Employment Areas'.
Planning Guidance (PG) is produced by the council in order to explain how particular development plan policies should be applied in practice. In this instance, the guidance has been drafted to support policy EMP 1 of the West Lothian Local Development Plan 'safeguarding and developing existing employment land' which identifies a range of uses that may be acceptable in principle on allocated employment land.
When approved the guidance will be a material consideration which the council will have regard to when it considers applications for planning permission for non-employment uses within employment areas, although as individual site characteristics must also be considered, and each case is different, compliance with the guidance will not in itself guarantee that planning permission would be granted.
