Mental Health Advocacy Project (West Lothian) SCIO
The Mental Health Advocacy Project (MHAP) provides an independent advocacy service for people with mental health and/or addiction problems who are resident or in hospital in West Lothian or in HMP Addiewell. MHAP offers individual and collective advocacy to adults and young people to help with a range of issues such as: detention, care and treatment, housing issues, family issues, benefits/financial issues, accessing legal assistance, etc.
We can also help people to access information about local groups, services and national groups. Our service is free of charge. Eligibility: Adults and young people resident or in hospital in West Lothian or in HMP Addiewell with a past or current mental health and/or addiction problem. Priority is given to those subject to: the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000, the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.
