Proxy votes

Voting by proxy is when you ask someone else to vote on your behalf.

Who can apply for a proxy vote?

Only people with a specific reason such as a disability or living overseas can apply to vote by proxy on a long-term basis.

To vote by proxy for just one election, you must provide a reason. For example,  you will be on holiday or away from home on polling day.

Emergency Proxy

In some circumstances you may be able to get an emergency proxy after the deadline for applying for a normal proxy.  For more information contact the Electoral Registration Office (0131 344 2500)
