I lived in a village called West Linton, which is in the Scottish Borders near Peebles.

The Queen and Prince Philip were visiting The Borders and our school along with many other schools were invited to take part in highland dancing in Victoria Park (i think that was the name).

Our school didn't have a uniform but on the day we wore gold and burgundy ties but my sister and I didn't know how to tie one so we had to get up very early so that our father could tie them for us before he went to work in Edinburgh.  The park was full of children dancing, I remember dancing the dashing white Sargent whilst the Royal car drove around with the Queen and Prince Philip  stood up in the open topped car and waved.

She will be missed so much as she brought so much goodness to our world. Rest in peace.
