Community Connections Volunteers

In West Lothian we want to ensure that it's as easy as possible to find information on services and get support from the right person at the right time, first time.   Community Connections brings a range of health, social care, employability, housing and advice professionals together to ensure that local communities have a space to see a friendly face when in need.

Community Connections volunteers, who will front the project, will be able to support local people to have that chat and access support if needed. Do you have a passion to support people access the right information and services on following topics; getting a job, accessing social work, requesting financial support, support for a carer or asking questions about housing? If so, this opportunity will be great for you.

The Advice Shop is currently recruiting volunteers for Community Connections.  It is anticipated that volunteers would commit to approximately 3 to 4 hours per week and to attending the compulsory training (6 hours). There are 2 drop-ins open at the moment, West Calder and Linlithgow, with the next 2 opening in August in Blackburn and Livingston North.  By March, 2023 it is anticipated that all 12 drop-ins will be operational. Opening hours for the drop-ins are 10.00am to 1.00pm and 1.00pm to 4.00pm.
