Persons with severe mental health difficulties

You may be entitled to a discount if an adult member of the household has severe mental health difficulties.

To qualify the person must

  • have a severe impairment of intelligence and social functioning that appears to be permanent, and
  • is entitled to one of the following benefits;
    • attendance allowance
    • constant attendance allowance
    • care component (at the high or middle rate) of disability living allowance
    • daily living component of personal independence payment
    • employment and support allowance
    • incapacity benefit
    • income support (which includes the disability premium)
    • increased rate of disablement pension where constant attendance is needed
    • severe disablement allowance
    • unemployability supplement or allowance
    • universal credit. 

Note: A registered medical practitioner must certify their condition.
